Amar Karma Organ Donation Society held their annual Give a Heart Gala on February 3, 2018 at the Apollo Convention Centre. Their organization works towards promoting the importance of organ donation within the South Asian community, as well as other aspects of health and wellness. Youth from the community were the focus of the night as they spoke about different aspects of health care.
 
Our very own Dr. Istvan Mucsi had the honour of speaking at the event about the group’s research on ethnic disparities in accessing living donor kidney transplantation. Vardaan Gupta, research student, also spoke about his perspective on the importance of the team’s research.
 

Talks were also presented by Dr. Amandeep Tagger, Radiation Oncologist who spoke about raising awareness of cancers intimately associated with our bodies and addressing the taboo of cancer within the South Asian community. Dr. Nazish Ahmed, Stem Cells Specialist also spoke at the event.
 
The night was filled with dinner, dance, performances and wonderful speeches from many individuals directed towards the South Asian community.
