CST Conference – Halifax, September 2017

Dr. Mucsi, Dmitri Belenko, Tibyan Ahmed, Abeera Ali, Vardaan Gupta, and Candice Richardson at the CST conference

On September 26-29, 2017, seven of our researchers had the privilege of presenting abstracts at the 2017 Joint Scientific Meeting of the Canadian Society of Transplantation (CST) and the Cell Transplant and Regenerative Medicine Society (CTRMS) held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We had three posters recognized as Posters of Distinction among the following abstracts accepted for the conference:

  • Muslim Canadian patients are less likely to receive living donor kidney transplant offers compared to Caucasian, non-Muslim patients
  • A Higher level of social support is associated with a potential living donor being identified for patients with End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD). A cross-sectional study
  • Altruism in patients with End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD): Transplant-related knowledge and willingness to donate
  • Kidney transplant education using the Explore Transplant Ontario package increases transplant knowledge in patients on maintenance dialysis
  • Is ethnicity associated with willingness to register for kidney donation?
  • Higher kidney transplant related knowledge is associated with higher living donor self-efficacy among patients with end stage kidney disease (ESKD)
  • Validation of PROMIS-57 in kidney transplant recipients
